Theme 59: No Way Out

Nightmares

You run to your room
And jump under the sheets
You need to escape
But instead you fall asleep


You tumble off
To the dark tunnel of dreams
Nothing awaits you
But the sound of piercing screams


You look around
For anyone to help
You see a tall man
And let out a yelp


He has no face
And blood for eyes
What is this place
No one hears your cries


So you run into
A set of twins
The catch is
Neither one has skin


They start to chase you
Into a maze
The light goes off
They meet your gaze


Soul-less expressions
Glowing red eyes
You lie down
And begin to cry


They shake their heads
And point with crooked fingers
As they dissappear
A rotting smell lingers


What they pointed at
Walks through the door
You give up
Still laying on the floor


The scariest person
Of them all
With his eyes stitched shut
And missing bottom jaw


He reaches out
Just as you sit up
Safe in bed
You still jump


Safe and happy
You feel so fine
Never such relief
And the good time


It's only when
You see the blade
You remember the dreams
Were better then your fate
