She stands there
Without a frown
And fidgets nervously
With her sparkling gown


She has a beautiful face
And should fit right in
But her fear of the crowded place
Comes from within


All her friends
Have gone off to dance
She's all alone
Without a chance


On the verge of tears
She tries not to run
All the other guests
Really should have fun


No one notices
She goes to hide
But on the way
She's pulled aside


The kind face
Of a nice old man
Smiles gently
And grabs her hand


What are you doing
By yourself?
A pretty girl like you
Should be with someone else


He pulls her back over
Her friends finally realized
She's still trying
Not to cry


Laughing loudly
They pull her in
Against her will
She dances till the end


Now with a smile
Her face shines
She really learned her lesson
At least this time


Fun isn't judged by
Who you're with
But the activities you do
And the gifts you give
